Monitor Resolution - Roareye Black

To set your screen resolution, go to your Desktop and press the Right Mouse button. From here click on the Settings tab of the opened window and then slide the slider to whatever screen resolution you wish to use.

800 x 600 Screen Resolution is probably the most practical way to work on small pixel artwork, especially sprites. Because the screen size has been enlarged, the size of each visible pixel on the screen is englarged also. This means that you can see what you are doing much more clearly and helps you develop your colour co-ordination and work out small details with relative ease. This screen resolution is quite old however and doesn't give the best visual effect on new monitors and/or new graphics cards that use a 1024 screen resolution as standard. This is easily sorted by switching the resolution back to 1024 after you've finished and saved the artwork. The visual problems modern PCs have with an 800 x 600 display (such as graininess) are only an effect on the monitor, and your work will be kept to it's best quality even through the transformation back to 1024.

1024 x 768 Screen Resolution has become the modern standard resolution of PC and laptop monitors. It allows for more detail to be present on screen than 800 x 600 and in doing so makes all the imagery on the monitor smaller.
This allows you to see alot more of your artwork as you work on it, especially useful for large pixel art and Oekaki. More advanced pixel artists usually choose this resolution as it is the standard resolution of their screens and it is therefore just easier to use, but usually they will have enough experience to easily deal with the shrunken pixels on the screen. For beginner pixel artists, I would still suggest beginning with 800 x 600 Screen resolution.
