Sonic Head - Immortal Omni
Before the tutorial starts, a brief note. This is a modelling workshop and as such, it will not show how to make one specific art piece, but instead pose different bodyparts from different angles using different techniques. As such, the work will be unshaded to show the structure of the work, and it will be up to you to practice this knowledge and apply it to your own artwork. Tutorial copyright to Immortal Omni.

Okay, first step is to draw a measly little circle. Make the circle the size you desire, but ours will be 49x49 pixels.

The next step is to draw the spikes (For another species, Use official art as examples). The top spike should be smaller than the others, and the bottom spike should be the slightly smaller than the middle, or the same size. The bottom spike should come down so the tip faces down completely, if the character is looking straight out. It's okay for the spikes to overlap, as shown in the example.

Next off is the muzzle. It should take up about a quarter of the circle. Make sure the muzzle stays INSIDE the circle at all times.

For the eyes, the larger eye (the one closer to you) should take reach up until about three quarters of the circle. Then it comes down and nearly touches the tip of the muzzle. Then it reaches up and ends at the center of the side of the circle, as shown.

Afterwards, we create the nose and ears. The ear above the smaller eye should point more to the side than the other ear. The ear above the larger eye should have the opening, as shown. The nose should not come off the tip of the muzzle, but rather 2-4 pixels inward.

With the official Advance colouring style (See the Colouring Tutorial for more), there are only three shades. Use the filler tool (the paint bucket) and fill everything in with the desired colours. Only use one shade for now. You can use colours from the palette, or "steal" one from an official pixel art. We are using colours from the palette for now.

Once everything is colored, eliminate any pixels that make the lines more than 1 pixel thick. If you used colours from the palette, you can easily change them to official colours. We are going to do so. To make the curved lines smoother, minimize the width of pixels as you progress down the line.

Now, take the darkest colour and put one pixel of the darkest shade into every "corner", as shown.

Then take the medium tone and draw a line just about in the centre of the spikes, ears, and muzzle. Everything else doesn't require additional shading. Once you draw the lines, fill them in as shown.

Take the darkest tone and draw a line similar to the above step, but in the middle of the medium tone, as shown. Then fill that as well. The spikes are the only thing that require this step, but you can if you want.

ow it looks pretty good, but you're not done. Take the medium tone again and put a pixel of colour in the "corner" of every dark tone wherever it is possible. Use the example to help you. Now you're basically done. You can add facial features, such as the pupils in the eyes and the mouth. You can also add the optional eyebrow-like object.
