Sonic Body - Izzy Goldrunner

Before the tutorial starts, a brief note. This is a modelling workshop and as such, it will not show how to make one specific art piece, but instead pose different bodyparts from different angles using different techniques. As such, the work will be unshaded to show the structure of the work, and it will be up to you to practice this knowledge and apply it to your own artwork.

Start with two ovals, a large one on top and a slightly smaller one on the bottom.

Connect the two ovals with lines. Don’t worry too much about going into the ovals, it won’t matter later.


Now erase the inside of the two ovals, making one large oval. This would be a good time to thing the body a little and work on shaping it to your desired shape.


Shaped further, the body will look like this. For this example, I put the skin colored part on Sonic’s stomach.


That’s it. Note the differences between Shadow’s and Knuckles bodies are very slight, therefore making this an ideal body base for official characters.
